The festival of 'IPL'

We all know about Hindu festivals, but there is a similar festival which is celebrated at the same time all around India, every year, religiously. A festival for people who belong to one such special religion. A religion named 'Cricket' and the festival named 'IPL' on the venue of Star Sports Cricket.
Family meetings, Friends gathering,restaurant/motel bookings are done well in advance to avoid the last minute rush of Interesting matches like Mumbai Indians Vs. Delhi Daredevils, Chennai Superkings Vs. Rajasthan Royals. THE ULTIMATE BATTLE.
I make sure my leave gets approved for the particular days because I have got enough reasons to dislike my job :P
Also, another point to be noted- Make sure you pay your D2H bill, the last thing on earth you want to happen is miss the last deciding ball of a match. I mean, Imagine 4 needed out of last ball. Bowler bowls a fast ball and the ball is been hit and its up in the air.. *Your account has insufficient balance* What a disaster right? So check that off too!
But according to my observation, Unlike other festivals, it contains no hustle bustle- The only chit chatting one can do is between the 10- 15 seconds of break, otherwise he will be in the bad books of all the family. (Only shouting when a 4 & 6 has been hit is allowed, though). One should not speak after the wicket and mourn in silence only. So many rules right?
What about the food? Its there! Sweets are made but enjoyed only if we win along with the crackers ;) but just in any festival,One should avoid doing some acts, Similarily the only act one should avoid doing here - NOT TO INTERRUPT!
Nothing is worse than missing that shot which was been hit in your pee break OR the wicket you missed when you went to bring water! No replays will ever replace the value of being the 1st one to know although by 30 seconds but still!
This is what I like about IPL. It is just like any other festival. We wait for it to come and then it comes and goes away quickly just as quickly as you read my Blog post. ;)

Quintessence

Here goes one more 55Word Story. The theme was Quintessence.

He started his day gambling and ended it with a hoe,
Seven seas away, his family was a boat without oars
Sometimes after months, otherwise after years, rarely did they meet
His pups considered him a quintessential monarch,
While he slogged and slaved to clear the cloud of bankruptcy

PRELUDE

I've wrote this for 55WordStorytheme by Vivek Tejuja . The theme for today was 'Prelude'

The glass broke.
My neighbouring aunty sang from the core.
Singing only occassionally,Yelling as chore.
Too scared to ask her to stop her newly found hobby,
Not Too brave to answer about the glasses to my landlord lady.
I mustered up courage and told her I need Solitude
She said,"Honey, This is just a Prelude"

The Bestest Birthday Gift!

I had decided I would give Nehaa a surprise not that she dint knew like every ither year but I wanted to make it special so Obviously I had to sacrifice something and the only thing she cribbed about is my beard! "I hate that unclean stubble. Please Please Shave. You look so Filthy as if you havent bathed for ages. Shave noh Please!" These are the words I hear daily. Its been since months that I am growing it up for one of my favorite style. But I know now we have reached such a point that she would not think twice before exclaiming that my clean shaven looks was the best gift she has ever received after the diamond ring. The debate although was still going in my mind. I thought so many actors have stubble but sadly I could just remember Abhishek and Dhanush :( Whereas she has Hritik, Ranveer.
She-1,Me-0
I looked in mirror and thought whether I looked older as she said that my beard makes me. Yes I sadly agreed.
She 2, Me-0
No Professionalism. I again looked in the mirror and embarrassed myself.
She-3,Me-0
3 reasons are surely enough fir me to shave and the smile on her  fsce would be worth more than the infinte reasons. After shaving,Surely I felt like I had a rebirth. My Handsome face which was half hidden was now shining :D
Nehaa as predicted exclaimed that it was Her best birthday gift even greater than the diamond ring and wouldnt stop kissing me on cheek. Blushing I promised her Ill always stay Clean shaven:)

Body Language Lecture? Pfft!

How can One talk so much?.. Well guys, let me tell you- as every Indian mother my mother too has lectured me. What's new then, right? Lets begin.
Now as a Graduate,I decided I'll go for my first ever job interview. Having a slight idea of formal clothing. I wore a white shirt, tucked it in my black jeans and went to mom to tell her I was leaving. But then! BAM! "Are you going to interview or College? Whats with your hair? And whats this..?" She asked touching my chin. "I hate that unclean stubble" She said. "And look at your nails? A Mans personality reflects from these small things. Your nails, your clean shaven looks will show the quality of cleanliness in you. A firm handshake after meeting will show confidence. Your clothes of pastel colours will look good on you" I doubt whether she was a teacher of body language or what? "Boy you gotta learn a lot!" She said messing my hair. I quickly jumped. Shaved,Shampooed, Took out a cream color shit and lastly cut my nails short. My mom handed me over curd and blessed me. After 3 hours I handed over sweets to Mom exclaiming I got the job!! My mom hugged me and again started lecturing on how you should invest, how you should maintain Work-Life balance. This and That and a lil bit of everything. And I thought- Here she goes again.

Cherishable Christmas!

Ah! I love these Christmas Holidays, The most enjoyable days- Friends,Family,Fun and Frolic.
I was playing tea time with my Daughter. Pouring me an imaginary tea after Mr.Pooh, I was offered an imaginary cookie on an empty plate.
I was about to start a conversation on what gifts did she wanted for Christmas? But even before my thoughts were uttered.
"Do you likey dad, Dora" She asked the Stuffed toy of Dora. Imagining the answer in 3 seconds. She replied "I hate thorny chin too" What she meant was "I hate that unclean stubble"
"Santa does not have such dirty chin" She whispered.
"Well,Ha has a long beard" I was about to answer but she calmly ordered,
"I want to see Santa dada, NOW!" Well. Completely clueless on how the topic drifted so Fast. I told my wife to replace me and I went to search the Santa costume. No one dares to not obey my daughter as we surely don't want to hear the loud screeches like that of a police siren! Hurriedly, I rushed into the costume and I somehow managed to stick the beard but it wouldn't because of my stubble. But STILL,Somehow, I managed. My wife graciously welcomed me as a Santa and a little bit of chit chatting and handing over of some chocolates. I returned to my normal self. I asked my daughter did she like Santa?
"Yes Daddy. But, Maybe you need to shave and stick the beard tightly again, Papu" She sweetly uttered. I hugged her and it was a hug of a dad who is confused whether to accept his daughter as a grownup lady or the toddler he still cherishes. But the stubble touched her and she cried making me chuck the thought of lady and tearing my ears apart!

Untolerable Sorrow!

10.30 am. I had to get ready for my wife's funeral. If she would have been present at this moment.
"Honey how would you like your eggs?" She would have asked from the kitchen. And half awake I would have answered "No eggs today please. Make some pancakes". She would have made it, I knew it and would have paired it up with my favorite black coffee. Such is the beauty of a long lasting relationship.
12.00 noon. Driving feels like a long drag when you have to go such demising event. As more and more I get close to the destination. I quickly smile remembering the pizza joint where we celebrated our 50th anniversary & did a small dance with our friends and owners of the joint. We surely dint understand how time passed and having some fine wine just makes the conversations longer. I saw the joint closed. I knew they must have reached by now n the funeral.
12.30 pm. Seeing the number of people who had attended was really shocking. I dint know she could have touched so many lives, profoundly. After my small speech. Well it was a long speech but my tears made it short. My heart cried louder as more and more people started giving short speeches how she had helped them, how she took care of their children when they were busy. My daughter besides me cried in a hoarse voice. I thought she might have remembered them. I side hugged my daughter because shes the only beautiful lady now in my life to look up to. It took 6 hours for the funeral to end. It was the longest funeral I had ever attended. After hours of everyone's speeches. I personally went up to everyone, hugged them and thanked them for coming. I could see the same intensity of the sorrow in each pair of eyes and unknowingly I wept with them.
